What are 3 mm dry ice pellets used for?

3 mm pellets are the rice-size dry ice most blasting machines are built to feed. They meter evenly through the hopper and hit hard enough to lift paint, grease, mould and char without leaving water or grit behind. We cut them to order on our own line, so they reach your hopper hours after they are made, not days.

They also chill fast as a pack around product, but they sublimate quicker than 16 mm nuggets because more surface is exposed per pound. For coolers and shipping boxes, nuggets or slices last longer.

How much should I pick up for a blasting job?

Size the order to the hours you will spend blasting, then add a margin for what sublimates in the bin. Pellets lose weight the whole time they sit, so pick them up or book delivery close to the job. Orders of 150 lb and up go out in our numbered, returnable insulated bins, rented by the week.

Questions about 3 mm pellets

How long do 3 mm dry ice pellets last?

Not long, which is why we cut them to order. Small pellets sublimate faster than nuggets, so a bin left sitting loses weight every hour, and faster in a warm truck. Get them the morning you blast, keep the lid closed between loads, and keep the bin out of the sun.

Can I buy a small amount of 3 mm pellets?

Yes. You can order from 1 lb, by the pound, online at polarsharks.ca/shop and choose pickup or delivery. An order under $25 of ice is charged $25 plus GST. Trade customers who sign in see the rate agreed for their account. For volume, 500 lb orders cost less a pound.

Where do I pick up 3 mm pellets?

At our plant, 2-730 Eaton Way, Delta, BC. Drive into the yard on the right of the building. Our shop is there. Pickup hours are Mon–Fri, 7 am–4 pm, closed on BC statutory holidays.
